FRS and GMRS:


Anyone can use FRS (Family Radio Service), it's a bit like a UHF/VHF version of CB radio.

GMRS on the other hand does require a license, though there's no test. Just pay for it and go.

GMRS and FRS have channels they share, and channels they don't share. GMRS is also allowed to run higher
power and operate repeaters. There are other differences but those are the important ones.
